Cryogenic Rotors

Cryogenic treating of rotors will increase the useable life of rotors by at east 100% and improve the life of brake pads at least 10%. Only new rotors can be treated.

Deep cryogenic treating is a one time process that permanently and dramatically improves the performance and useful life of metals in everything from brake rotors and performance engines to machine tools and gun barrels. The metal is cooled slowly to deep cryogenic temperatures 300 degrees Fahrenheit , and slowly returned to room temperature, then heat tempered.

Cryogenic processing creates significant increases in abrasive wear resistance and durability. Cryogenic treating reduces the possibility of cracking and warping of rotors.

Cryogenic processing permanently refines the grain structure of metals at the atomic level. Carbon particles precipitate as carbides into a lattice structure and fill in microscopic voids. This creates improved and stabilized rotors that have a denser, smoother surface. As a result heat and wear on brake rotors and pads are reduced.



The non-treated rotor shows:
  • 4-5 times the distortion
  • Cracking of more than twice the depth
  • 3 times the internal and external oxidation


The treated rotor is:
  • Free of distortion
  • Has a more uniform micro-cracking network
  • Has significantly less internal and external oxidation
  • The thermal fatigue resistance is superior in the treated condition and shows potential for greater safety and serviceability
